Participating in a Themed (in this case the Hoffman Leaf Panel) quilt along, can give you so much information and really prepare you for quilting other projects, and best of all putting the information to the test from the conception of a project to the finishing touches, can really help the concepts of FMQ to sink in.
so whether you’re an avid quilter or new to FMQ I know there is something in here for you!
See detailed description below for a list of Materials.
Materials you’ll need for the class:
1 Hoffman Dream Big Leaf Panel
4 yards backing fabric (if you’re doing the panel only you’ll take that backing cut into 2-2yard pieces and sew selvedges together to get you 72×84 inch backing more than big enough for your pane and you can even add some borders if you like)
2 yards Batting of your choice
**Optional simple borders: (you can do some simple square borders around your panel a small onet 3.5″ cut (buy 1 yard), and 6.5 inches cut (buy 1.5 yards) and will give you one small 3 inch border around your panel and one 6 inch border around your panel.
Matching Threads for your panel
sewing machine (longarm, midarm or domestic)
Lots of wound bobbins (match your cones of thread or buy prewounds to match your backing fabric)
if you intend to piece the fancy borders and IF YOU WANT TO DO BORDERS LIKE MINE YOU CAN ORDER BORDER , Panel and Thread KITS here .*
(if you do the Ribbon Mountain Pattern (fancy border pattern included in class) like mine your panel will be 76″ square so account for that in your backing and batting choices you’ll need more like 5 yards backing to work it properly. and 2.25 yards batting.
(printer if you’ll be printing out the PDF worksheets)
you’ll need a computer to take the class and stream the videos.
Another great course and a perfect companion to the Dream Big flower class. I love these beautiful panels, but I never know what to do with them. This class solves that problem with clear, easy to follow videos filled with design help and general quilting tips to help build skills for all projects.
