Our Simply Gorjuss & Waverly the Mermaid QAL is a wonderful way to challenge your free motion quilting skills on 2 separate 24×24″ projects. We will cover all of the motifs pictured (feathers, waves, double cross hatch, arrows, arches, picture frames). Each Panel is designed differently to quilt and is made to enhance your free motion quilting skills as well as your ruler work. Seeing the quilt path in instruction is INCREDIBLY helpful in helping you learn to navigate complex designs from one area to another.
Disclaimer: These Panels are no longer available but an applique pattern of the same size and design has been made! It is called “Waverly” linked below to easily add the pattern to your cart with the class purchase.

Materials List:
Waverly applique kit or pattern: prepare Waverly mermaid as directed in pattern.
I want to ensure you have all of the proper materials, so that your quilt along experience can be a joyful one!
a pen and paper to practice doodles, take notes or even *utilize a plexiglass and expo marker to practice doodles over and over and gain muscle memory.
First things First:
You will need a machine, nearly any domestic machine, midarm or longarm style machine can do free motion. If it can straight stitch you’re good to go! also make sure you’ve cleaned it of any lint or dust before you begin a big project and/or make sure it is oiled (if it can be)
Longarm quilters: ensure you have a ruler base to use your rulers;
Domestic quilters: ensure you have a table for your machine to sit down into, or an acrylic one that comes up and joins your machine so you have a large flat base to quilt on and support you for ruler work.
Midarm sitdown quilters: you should have a flat table base.. you’re good 🙂
thread snips, a fresh needle, full bobbins to match your backing material or your top thread.
Top Thread
Air/water soluble marker
Water soluble only blue marking pen
Ruler foot for your machine
Inch ruler for marking and planning
#8 QP curve for quilting
stunning straight edge for quilting.

This was the first class I signed up for with Lauren. Excellent class, clear instructions, lots of helpful video. Lauren is a natural teacher. As a new longarm quilter, this class really helped me get going with free motion quilting. Highly recommend!

This was the first class I took with Lauren. It gave me confidence to use rulers on my own and free motion. Things that I thought didn’t turn out so well now don’t look so bad,

Lauren laid out the process for marking and quilting this project in such clear , understandable steps, that it has really increased my confidence in tackling quilt design and execution. She is a top notch instructor. I highly recommend any of the Bold Notion quilting classes.
